About Renegade Reporter
Renegade Reporter is an independent, hand-curated news aggregator. Every headline on the front page was read and chosen by a person before it went up. No feed parser runs in the background, no ranking algorithm decides placement, and no ingestion happens automatically. One editor works through the day's coverage across a standing list of vetted publications and posts what holds up.
The layout follows the shape of a newspaper front page. A top story sits above the fold, a short breaking column appears when the news calls for it, and ten standing sections run underneath. Headlines link straight through to the publication that did the reporting, so credit and traffic land where the work was done. Renegade Reporter carries no original reporting of its own, and the front page updates through the day rather than on a fixed schedule.
There is nothing to sign up for. The front page loads without an account and without a paywall, and an RSS feed carries the same selections for readers who prefer to follow along in a reader of their own.
What Renegade Reporter covers
The ten sections are politics, law, economy, culture, opinion, environment, health, tech, science, and world. Politics and law tend to carry the heaviest volume in a given week, since that is where the news concentrates, and the remaining sections fill in as stories arrive.
Source selection follows a few working rules. Free-to-read sources are preferred, so most links open without a subscription wall in the way. Nonprofit newsrooms and independent outlets are prioritized, alongside wire services and established dailies. Headlines written to bait a click are left off, along with items that turn out to be a single unattributed claim traveling in a circle. Stories stay on the front page for ninety days and then roll off. A reader who checks Renegade Reporter once a day should come away with a reasonable picture of what happened, drawn from outlets that name their reporters and correct their mistakes.
A third column on the front page holds standing references rather than news: wire services, public records tools, fact-checking desks, and a directory of the outlets in regular rotation. Those links stay in place and do not move with the day's coverage, so they work as a starting point for anyone who wants to check a story at the source.
Who runs it
Renegade Reporter is edited and built by Kyle Laverty, a senior web developer based in North Carolina who operates Crossfxn LLC. He handles the curation, the code, and the hosting. Tips and corrections are welcome.
